The story of Rosso Nearco
Rosso Nearco is recorded on 365 GTC/4s built in 1972. RM Sotheby's sold chassis 15643, completed in May 1972 and delivered new to Chinetti-Garthwaite in Pennsylvania, as finished in factory-correct Rosso Nearco over beige Connolly leather, and right-hand-drive chassis 16153, specified in Rosso Nearco over black leather with red carpets and delivered through Maranello Concessionaires in October 1972. The 330 GT Registry's chip list for the later 365 models places Rosso Nearco (95.9273) beside Nero Dark Ronald, Grigio Mahmoud, Oro Kelso and Amaranto Bull Lea; ROSSOautomobili notes that Ferrari colors of the era were sometimes named after Thoroughbred racehorses. Nearco, Wikipedia records, was Federico Tesio's Italian-bred colt, unbeaten in 14 races in 1937–38 including the Grand Prix de Paris.
