About Rosso Formula 1 2007
In the 2007 season of Formula 1, Ferrari changed the color of their cars at the Monaco Grand Prix. They went from title sponsor Marlborro's light red to a darker metallic red. This color was then kept for the remainder of the season. Aside from the color being uniquely used on the F2007 F1 cars of Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa, this was also Ferrari's last drivers championship winning car with Räikkönen's title in 2007. The special triple layer paint later appeared on Ferrari's road-going cars with it being made available through the brands Tailor Made programme. This is not the only paint that found its way from the F1 cars onto the production cars. In 2022 the matte red Rosso Ferrari F1-75 was made available for the complete model range.
The story of Rosso Formula 1 2007
Ferrari's F2007 was shown at Fiorano on 14 January 2007 and went on to take nine wins, the constructors' championship with 204 points and the drivers' title with Kimi Räikkönen. At the Monaco Grand Prix in May 2007 the team showed the press a new red a day before the car ran: a period paddock report called it slightly darker and more metallic than before, and an EFE dispatch of 24 May 2007 said the bright red of the previous seven years had given way to a metallic red. Ferrari's magazine lists Rosso Formula 1 2007 among its special configurator colors; a 2010 599 GTO delivered new in France through Charles Pozzi was listed in it. Wikipedia's season summary agrees: Räikkönen took the title by one point, 110 to 109, over Hamilton and Alonso, and Ferrari the constructors' championship.
