About Rosso Barchetta
Older cars featured Glasurit paint instead of PPG which also had a different paint code: 312. Rosso Barchetta is a historic Ferrari paint with its name referring to the shape of the old race cars it featured on, as Barchetta literally translates to "little boat" from Italian. It's a darker non-metallic almost burgundy red that still features on a handful of new cars as an extra range paint option.
The story of Rosso Barchetta
As a full body color Rosso Barchetta was rare even on the F430. On 7 April 2025 Aguttes offered a 2007 F430 coupe, chassis 154782, at its Tour Auto sale in Paris and called its Rosso Barchetta paint unique to the model. The catalog described the shade as a dark, non-metallic red inspired by Ferrari's 1950s single-seaters, noted that a few 360 Modenas had been painted in it, and recorded that the car had been completely repainted under its second owner. The catalog also gives the code as 322, where the site records 312 and 320. Barchetta, Wikipedia notes, is Italian for "little boat": the first car so called was a Ferrari 166 MM shown at the 1948 Turin show.
