About Giallo Modena
Giallo Modena is Ferrari's best known and most popular yellow paint, named after the Modena region the Ferrari factory is located in. The color has been around for a very long time and still features as the only standard range yellow paint on modern Ferrari's. It's a non-metallic bright yellow. When comparing it to another popular Ferrari yellow, Giallo Triplo Strato , Modena will look a bit more pale and leans ever so slightly more towards the green side of the spectrum. Both characteristics that aren't really that noticeable when seeing the color on its own.
The story of Giallo Modena
Ferrari describes yellow as the color of the city of Modena which, together with the black horse inherited from the family of the airman Francesco Baracca — Italy's top fighter ace of the First World War, Wikipedia records — forms part of the Ferrari emblem; the company calls yellow the brand's second soul. An earlier Ferrari yellow, Giallo Fly, was first used on a 275 GTB, and Ferrari labels the story of its origin a legend. The first yellow Ferrari raced in April 1951. RM Sotheby's records 31 of the 349 F50s as finished in Giallo Modena, among them chassis 104798, ordered by Ralph Lauren in 1995 and sold in 2025 for $9,245,000. A 2001 550 Barchetta was cataloged as Giallo Modena with factory code 4305 D.S. In 2025 the AF Corse 499P that won Le Mans carried a Giallo Modena livery.
