About Azzurro Le Castellet
Estimated from the dominant body color of the carpaints.co photo (Ferrari 812 Competizione; 46% of frame). Azzurro Le Castellet gets its name from the Paul Ricard circuit, which is located in Le Castellet (France). Visually it's a bit darker than Azzurro La Plata . It's a Tailor Made exclusive paint that we very rarely see getting specced.
The story of Azzurro Le Castellet
Azzurro Le Castellet is a solid, non-metallic gloss blue that carpaints.co lists as a PPG paint available only as a Tailor Made special request and rarely specified. ROSSOautomobili says the shade is inspired by the Paul Ricard circuit at Le Castellet — opened in April 1970 with the pastis magnate's money, Wikipedia records — known for its red, white and blue painted run-off areas, and illustrates it with a Ferrari-credited photo of a 488 GTB. Carpaints.co also records an 812 Competizione in the color carrying the racing livery in Giallo Fly and Nero DS, and estimates that fewer than ten of the 999 cars built were painted Azzurro Le Castellet.
