The story of Blu Cobalto
Blu Cobalto is documented on one car: 512 TR Spider chassis 97310, one of three 512 TR Spiders built in 1993 and the only one to leave the factory in this blue, over Blu Scuro Connolly leather. RM Sotheby's records the car as bought new by Alfred Tan of Hong Seh Motors, Ferrari's Singapore dealer, who was invited to display it at Ferrari's 50th-anniversary celebrations in Rome in 1997. With about 570 km recorded it sold at RM Sotheby's London in 2023 for £2,226,875, was then refinished in its original Blu Cobalto and offered again at Monterey in 2024, where it did not sell. ROSSOautomobili relates the name to cobalt pigments. Cobalt blue, Wikipedia records, is the pigment of Chinese blue-and-white porcelain since the late eighth or early ninth century.
