About Viola Dino
Violetto Dino is a very bright and saturated shade of purple by Ferrari. It has gotten its name from the rare shade of purple that was seen on the 246 Dino in the 60s, although back then it was called Viola Metallizzato and the metallic flake was a lighter color. Violetto Dino can therefore be seen as a modern interpretation of the classic color.
The story of Viola Dino
Viola Dino revives the Viola Metallizzato of the Dino. RM Sotheby's, offering 1974 246 GTS chassis 08070 in 2013, wrote that Ferrari confirmed the original color, that factory records show only 31 Dinos finished in it, that it is nearly identical to the purple ink Enzo Ferrari used for his signatures, and that Mario Andretti owned one; Broad Arrow sold a 1968 206 GT in "Viola Metallizzato Dino" at Monterey in 2023. Four Wheel Drift lists "Viola Dino 106-R-71" and "Viola Dino Met. 106-A-71", the Salchi metallic series. Ferrari's configurator spells today's paint Violetto Dino, a brighter two-layer metallic that carpaints.co calls a modern interpretation; ROSSOautomobili pictures it on a Portofino. The Dino name honors Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, Wikipedia records.
