About Rosso Taormina
Rosso Taormina is a newer Ferrari paint first introduced on the special Cavalcade cars which were created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ferrari Cavalcade owners tour and was only available to customers that have participated in the Cavalcade. It's a very dark shade of red with a bright red / orangey brown metallic flake which transforms the color when seen in the sun. Ferrari says the color was inspired by the slopes of Mount Etna, an active stratovolcano in Sicily.
The story of Rosso Taormina
The Ferrari Cavalcade marked its tenth year in 2021, and Ferrari created five Tailor Made packages for clients who had taken part in at least one Cavalcade, applicable to the 812 Competizione, 812 Competizione A, SF90 Stradale, SF90 Spider and 296 GTB. The palette, inspired by the Italian cities and regions the Cavalcades had visited, comprised Argento Siracusa, Blu Capri, Verde Volterra, Bianco Courmayeur and Rosso Taormina, with an anniversary-engraved dedication plate and optional door numbers. Press reports on the SF90 Stradale show car, the second of the five, quoted Ferrari saying the shade draws its inspiration from the charred slopes of Mount Etna; Autoblog called it much darker than typical Ferrari red, bordering on burgundy. Taormina, Wikipedia records, is the hilltop town on Sicily's east coast with Mount Etna in view to the south.
