About Rosso GP 1000
Rosso GP 1000 is a deep, dark red created in 2020 to commemorate Scuderia Ferrari’s 1000th Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Tuscan Grand Prix at Mugello. The color pays tribute to the special burgundy livery worn by the Ferrari SF1000 for that race, itself inspired by the historic hue of the 1947 Ferrari 125 S, the brand’s first racing car. It's a rather dark shade of red, similar to the likes of Rosso Barchetta . Only a very limited number of customer Ferraris have been finished in Rosso GP 1000, making it one of the rarest modern reds produced by Ferrari.
The story of Rosso GP 1000
The paint takes its name from Scuderia Ferrari's 1000th Grand Prix, the Tuscan Grand Prix at Mugello on 13 September 2020, where the two SF1000s ran a one-off livery. Formula 1's official site quoted Piero Ferrari saying the cars would run in the burgundy color first seen on the 125 S, Ferrari's first racing car, with race numbers styled to look hand-painted and the drivers' suits matched to the car. The official two-volume book *Ferrari 1000 GP*, limited to 2,000 copies, came in a slipcase described as "Rosso Storico 127," the same color as the 125 S and the SF1000. Wikipedia records the race as held to celebrate Ferrari's 1000th World Championship Grand Prix and, as of 2026, the only Formula One race run at Mugello.
