About Blu Sera
A metallic blue from the Glidden-Salchi and Glasurit eras — the 106-A-18 code sits in the Salchi metallic series and FER504/C carries Glasurit's "/C" metallic suffix, so the paint is often written in full as Blu Sera Metallizzato. Seen on the Testarossa and, rarely, the 512 TR; a Blu Sera Metallizzato 512 TR was offered by GT Motor Cars in 2026.
The story of Blu Sera
Blu Sera was in factory use by 1961: Bonhams cataloged 250 GT SWB 2501GT, sold new on April 4, 1961, through Luigi Chinetti Motors, as finished in blu sera. Gooding Christie's describes Steve McQueen's 275 GTB/4*S NART Spider, chassis 10453, as the first of only two NART Spiders originally finished in Blu Sera, though McQueen soon repainted it a darker metallic blue. The 330 GT Registry translates the Italver codes 20100 M and 20264 A as evening blue. Later cars include 308 GTB Vetroresina 20795, delivered in 1977 in Blu Sera metallic over beige; a 1989 Testarossa supplied by Charles Pozzi in Blu Sera FER 504/C; and 512 TR ZFFLG40A8N0090872, one of 28 factory-finished Blu Sera 512 TRs worldwide according to RM Sotheby's, sold for $775,000 at Monterey in 2025.
