About Blu Elder
Estimated from the dominant body color of the carpaints.co photo (Ferrari 812 GTS; 25% of frame). Blu Elder is a two layer modern Ferrari paint, exclusively available from their extended paint range. It's a light desaturated shade of blue with a noticeable purple undertone and very striking gold / bronze metallic flake which gives the paint its unique glow and completely transforms it under direct sunlight. In late 2025 this color was renamed to Blu Minerale, to move away from color names referencing individuals. The paint code and overall look remain the same although Blu Minerale seems to be slightly darker.
The story of Blu Elder
Blu Elder is a Tailor Made color first reported in February 2021 on a 488 Pista Spider, where Carscoops described a purple-tinged finish with a pearlescent effect that turns gold under direct light. A 2024 SF90 XX Spider with 100 km, in special-order Blu Elder over an Apollo Nero interior, was offered by Collecting Cars in April 2025 as the first public auction of that model. According to carpaints.co, Ferrari renamed the color Blu Minerale in late 2025, as part of a move away from paint names referencing individuals, keeping the same paint code. Ferrari's Tailor Made site lists a Roma from its Inedita collection in Blu Elder, paint code FM.*0229, with a plaque reading "Inspired by blue elder" and a paint it describes as having an unexpected pearlescent shimmer.
