About Vinaccia
Vinaccia, often referred to as Rosso Vinaccia, is a solid dark red paint by Ferrari which literally translates to Wine Red. It's a historic paint dating all the way back to the 1950s and nowadays only features as a special request paint. While it's being called a red paint, it's dark non-metallic hue visually leans more towards a dark purple / maroon shade.
The story of Vinaccia
Vinaccia is Italian for grape pomace, the pressed skins left from winemaking, as Wikipedia defines it; carpaints.co translates the name as wine red and ROSSOautomobili calls the metallic variant a wine-inspired shade. Ferrari relaunched Vinaccia at Geneva in March 2007 as one of ten historic catalog colors for the 612 Scaglietti, and Classic Driver reproduced the catalog's pairing with the 1957 250 California, a noble shade that was "a signature for some of the great Ferrari models". Carpaints lists the solid paint as PPG 390, often called Rosso Vinaccia, and notes a later Vinaccia Metallizzato; Ferrari itself used the word in 2019 for a pomace shade developed for its Marc Newson luggage collection.
