The story of Verde British Racing
British racing green is Britain's national racing color and has no single fixed shade. It dates from the 1903 Gordon Bennett Cup, run in Ireland because racing on public roads was illegal in England; the British Napier entries were painted green in honor of the host country. Ferrari's version carries code 611 and has been supplied as an Extra Campionario special order: RM Sotheby's sold a 2005 Superamerica, delivered new to Miller Motorcars of Greenwich in July 2005 in Verde British 611, for $412,000 at Monterey in 2022. In December 2020 the Basel dealer Niki Hasler offered a 599 GTO, an F12tdf, a 599 SA Aperta and a Portofino painted in Verde Inglese or Verde British Racing over Cuoio leather.
