This classic Ferrari gold paint has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years, especially as more modern Ferrari models are being showcased in this timeless shade. Automotive enthusiasts and collectors alike are once again drawn to the rich heritage and distinctive look of Oro Chiaro.
The story of Oro Chiaro
Oro Chiaro, light gold, is a 1960s Ferrari metallic that has stayed in use. The 330 GT Registry’s official color list gives it as Italver 19410 M and 20450 A, and a Scaglietti chip book for the 275 GTB lists Oro Chiaro Metallizzato 106-Y-19. For the 308, 308-328.com records Salchi 106-Y-137, later 633-4-015, then Glasurit FER106, FER103/C and FER104/C; the Ferrari 400 blog lists FER 104/C for the 400i and 412. RM Sotheby’s sold 308 GTB chassis 20695, restored to its factory Oro Chiaro over Tan, at Monterey in 2024, and 275 GTB/4 chassis 10337, repainted from its original Celeste to Oro Chiaro, at Villa Erba in 2023. In 2021 duPont Registry reported a Tailor Made 812 GTS in Oro Chiaro, and carpaints.co records PPG code 104/C / 0357 today.
