About Nero DS
Estimated from the dominant body color of the carpaints.co photo (Ferrari 488 Pista; 7% of frame). Nero DS is Ferrari's standard non-metallic black paint. It features on every model as one of the standard colors. The other black paint that's usually also offered on the standard range, Nero Daytona which is a metallic black, is a more popular choice. It's also available with a matte clear cloat as Nero DS Opaco. This paint also goes by the name Nero B/B , with the same paint code.
The story of Nero DS
Nero DS is Ferrari's standard solid black, cataloged by carpaints.co under PPG code 1250 and offered on every model as a standard color; carpaints adds that the same paint also goes by the name Nero B/B. Ferrari uses the name on its Tailor Made pages: one 812 Competizione carries racing roundels with the number 5 in gloss Nero DS, and another has a rear livery stripe in matte Nero DS, quoted with paint code 205500. Factory examples among the limited-series cars were few: RM Sotheby's states that only four F50s left the factory in Nero DS, and Broad Arrow describes a 2003 Enzo as one of a dozen US-market cars finished in Nero D.S., one of three with Rosso leather. What "DS" stands for is on no page consulted.
