The story of Grigio Silverstone
Grigio Silverstone shares its name with the British circuit where Ferrari took its first Formula 1 World Championship win: on Saturday 14 July 1951 José Froilán González drove a Ferrari 375 to victory there, fifty seconds ahead of Fangio's Alfa Romeo — the first World Championship win for both González and Ferrari, Wikipedia records. Ferrari writes that its colors are rooted in the marque's heritage and names Verde Zeltweg after a circuit, but no Ferrari text found says the same of this gray. The earliest cars found cataloged in the color are from 2005 — a 575M Maranello HGTC delivered in Belgium that July and several 612 Scagliettis — and Ferrari's Tailor Made department used it as a stripe color on a white 458 Spider shown at Goodwood in 2013.
