About Grigio Fumo
Estimated from the dominant body color of the ROSSOautomobili photo (Ferrari 330 GTS; 69% of frame). ROSSOautomobili lists it in "12 Ferrari colors you’ve never heard of". A period factory color: Gooding Christie’s 1966 275 GTS chassis 07929, sold at Pebble Beach 2026, was "originally finished in Grigio Fumo (Smoke Gray)" and delivered new in Italy (Hagerty auction report, 21 August 2026); that car now wears an old red repaint, so the value here still comes from ROSSOautomobili’s 330 GTS photo.
The story of Grigio Fumo
Grigio Fumo, smoke gray, is listed by the 330 GT Registry twice among Ferrari's official colors, as Italver 18944 M and 20294 A, and as 16.672 in a Max Meyer chip book for Pininfarina coupes. Gooding Christie's catalog text for 1966 275 GTS chassis 07929, Lot 188 at Pebble Beach 2026, says the car was completed in March 1966 in Grigio Fumo, Italver 18944, over red Connolly leather, one of just three built in that scheme; its first owner was Cartiere del Timavo, a paper company owned by Pietro Ferraro of Trieste, and it was later repainted red. A 1965 275 GTS, chassis 07957, offered by Gooding in 2018 also wore Grigio Fumo, and the Ferrari 400 blog counts the color among those used on 400 and 400i cars.
