About Grigio Ferro
ROSSOautomobili lists it as Grigio Ferro Metallizzato in "Did You Know Ferrari’s Color Palette Included These 25 Shades?" (458 Speciale Aperta photo); the Salchi and Glasurit codes are the metallic series, so the long name is the same paint.
The story of Grigio Ferro
Grigio Ferro, iron gray, is a metallic gray with a long code history. A Scaglietti chip book for the 275 GTB lists Grigio Ferro Metallizzato 106-E-8, and 308-328.com records the same Salchi code on the 308, then Glasurit FER702 and FER700/C, the paint losing "Ferro" from its name in 1981; the Ferrari 400 blog's 1983 Glasurit range lists it as Grigio Met. FER 700/C. RM Sotheby's sold 1977 308 GTB chassis 21167 at Amelia Island in 2017 with one repaint in its original Grigio Ferro Metallic, confirmed by a Ferrari Classiche letter. Ferrari relaunched Grigio Ferro among ten historic colors at the Geneva show in March 2007 for the 612 Scaglietti, and carpaints.co lists the current metallic under code 790.
