The story of Celeste Gainsborough
Celeste Gainsborough belonged to the Italver color range for Pininfarina-bodied Ferraris whose names, according to the Ferrari 400 blog, were racehorse names carried over from the 365 GTC/4 and still appearing on factory order documents until early 1978. Its code is 2.443.625, and the 330 GT Registry reproduces it in two Italver paint-chip sets for 365-series cars; a Ditzler/PPG paint book lists Gainsborough Celeste Poly for 1968–71 as a silver blue, Ditzler 13770. On FerrariChat, the historian Marcel Massini has stated that only fifteen 365 GTC/4s were originally painted Celeste Gainsborough, two of them right-hand drive, chassis 14561 and 15709. ROSSOautomobili shows the color on a 365 GT 2+2 and describes a blue-green used in the 1960s and 1970s. Gainsborough, Wikipedia records, won the 1918 English Triple Crown and sired Hyperion.
