The story of Blu Tour de France
The name points to the Tour de France Automobile — the French road race run from 1899 to 1986, Wikipedia records — which Ferrari won every year from 1956 to 1964 with the 250 GT Berlinetta, the short-wheelbase 250 GT and the 250 GTO; Ferrari says the organizers allowed a winning constructor to use the event's name in a model title, which is how the 250 GT Berlinetta became the Tour de France. In Ferrari's account of the 1956 win, Alfonso de Portago's car was French racing blue with white number roundels. No source states when the paint entered the range or why it took the name. RM Sotheby's has cataloged a 2007 612 Scaglietti shown at the 2006 Paris Motor Show and a 2017 F12tdf in Blu Tour de France, and a 2004 Enzo later refinished in it.
