The story of Blu Caracalla
Blu Caracalla is a dark blue from Ferrari's late-1960s and early-1970s palette, part of the range the Ferrari 400 blog describes as the racehorse names. The 330 GT Registry's paint page lists it at 2.666.901 in a PPG/Italver chip set for Pininfarina cars and, in a Ditzler/PPG paint book, as Caracalla Blue Poly, a 1968–71 color described as a deeper dark blue, Ditzler 13772. A contributor to the Ferrari 400 blog records Blu Caracalla 2.666.901 among colors known on 365s and early 400s from new. The 365 GTC/4 registry shows chassis 15697, a 1972 car delivered to Crepaldi in Italy, in Blu Caracalla, and lists chassis 15207, delivered new to the United States, as Blue Caracalla over beige. ROSSOautomobili shows it on a 365 GT 2+2. Caracalla, Wikipedia records, was the French colt, named for the Roman emperor, unbeaten in eight races including the 1946 Arc.
