About Azzurro Dino
Azzurro Dino is a historic Ferrari paint. It's name is tied to the Dino, a car produced by Ferrari in the late 1960s and early 1970s which was named in honor of Enzo Ferrari's son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari. Azzurro Dino is a non-metallic shade of blue that has become quite iconic for the brand. A metallic version of the same paint was later released called Azzurro Dino Metallizzato . In 2024 the Scuderia Ferrari reintroduced the color for the Miami GP together with the lighter Azzurro La Plata . Carlos Sainz' Formula 24 SF-1 will be wearing a unique Azzurro Dino livery while Charles Leclerc's F1 car will be wearing Azzurro La Plata. Both drivers also had a 296 GTS with a livery matching their racecar to drive around Miami over the weekend. Both colors will undoubtedly get a popularity boost by this in the spec room with future owners.
The story of Azzurro Dino
Salchi paint tables for the 308 list Azzurro Dino as code 20-A-349, later 589-8-349, among the solid colors offered from 1975 through 1977. Bonhams records two Dino 246 GTs built in it: chassis 01846, completed April 2, 1971, for Crepaldi Automobili in Milan, and chassis 03314, completed in February 1972 and delivered through Luigi Chinetti Motors. For Ferrari's 70th anniversary, 488 GTB chassis ZFF79AMB000232128 wore the "Tour de France" livery in Azzurro Dino with Argento Nürburgring pinstripes, recalling de Portago's 1956 winner. Ferrari revived the color for the 2024 Miami Grand Prix as a deeper blue worn by Scuderia drivers such as Arturo Merzario and Clay Regazzoni, the last to wear it in 1974; its magazine calls it a signature color of the Dino 246, used again for the 12Cilindri launch.
