The story of Del Rio Verde Medio
Verde Del Rio Medio is one car's color. RM Sotheby's sold 1967 275 GTB/4 chassis 09831, "the Del Rio", at Monterey in 2023 for $3,800,000: its first owner, Daniel Del Rio, a Wall Street stockbroker with Delafield & Delafield, specified, per Marcel Massini's research, a one-of-one paint-to-sample green later named Del Rio Verde Medio over orange leather. RM's account of his correspondence says he asked for Verde Medio 6700 made by Italver, rejecting a Salchi Verde Medio Metallizzato sample; Automobile Quarterly's Fall 1969 issue noted that Scaglietti now listed "Del Rio Green" as an option, though no other customer ordered it. ROSSOautomobili, with RM's and Robin Adams's photographs, calls it a non-metallic shade.
