About Berlinetta Lusso
Named after the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso, this is a Tailor Made metallic made by PPG; carpaints.co records Ferrari as the first maker to use it. The 812 Competizione Aperta documented there wears a Livrea Trasversale stripe in Argento Nürburgring, and its paint sticker reads "Berlinetta Lusso" and "Liv Arg Nurburg", with no numeric code. ROSSOautomobili calls the color caramel-like on a Tailor Made 812 Competizione Aperta. Body panels in the two photographs here read from #bd7f46 to #dda165 depending on the light, more orange and less yellow than the blog’s chip, which remains the reference value.
The story of Berlinetta Lusso
Berlinetta Lusso is a gold-brown metallic that carpaints.co lists as a gloss PPG paint first released by Ferrari and part of its Tailor Made palette, named after the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso; the car it documents is an 812 Competizione A entered as a Tailor Made special request with a Livrea Trasversale stripe in Argento Nürburgring, photographed by European Prestige. ROSSOautomobili describes a caramel-like metallic on a Tailor Made 812 Competizione Aperta photographed by Thomas Howarth and likewise traces the name to the 1960s Berlinetta Lusso. The 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso itself, Wikipedia records, was built from 1962 to 1964.
