About Argento Nürburgring
Argento Nurburgring is Ferrari's most popular silver paint which still features on the standard paint range for most models. The color was first introduced in 1996 on the 550 Maranello, which itself was introduced at the Nurbugring and so the color was named after the German racetrack.
The story of Argento Nürburgring
Argento Nürburgring is a metallic silver carrying Ferrari code 101/C. Ferrari’s own 550 Maranello page records that the model was launched to the press at the Nürburgring in 1996, and Artcurial’s catalog for 550 Maranello chassis 105067, one of the ten cars presented to the press there on June 19 and 21, 1996, gives its original color as Argento Nürburgring, named after the racetrack where it was presented. RM Sotheby’s cataloged Enzo chassis 137754 as one of only nine finished in Argento Nürburgring, noting that the Enzo’s standard colors were Rosso Corsa, Giallo Modena and Nero. The 101/C number predates the name — 308-328.com lists FER101/C from 1981 as the renamed Argento Auteuil — and the Luce configurator still groups the color among its Classic colors. The Nürburgring, Wikipedia records, opened in 1927 in the Eifel mountains.
